Once I finished my book last night, I couldn't wait to pick up The Mystery of the Talking Skull, which is part of the "Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators" mystery series. I loved those books as a child, and I was delighted to rediscover one on Saturday. I started it last night and finished it tonight.

In the story, Jupiter Jones buys an old trunk at an auction, only to have several people display a keen interest in it shortly thereafter. Jupe refuses to sell it to anyone else, and he and his friends Bob and Pete take it back to the salvage yard. Once they defeat the lock, they find the trunk contains items belonging to The Great Gulliver, a small time magician with a big-time trick--a talking skull. When the skull begins speaking to Jupiter, he knows he has a mystery on his hands.

The story was cute in a quaint sort of way, and it was fast-paced and interesting enough to keep my attention. I only hope I will luck out and find more of these books in the near future.

Four clovers!
