Last night, I finished the book High Stakes by Erin McCarthy. It's the first (I think!) in her "Vegas Vampires" series.
The book was a light-hearted romance, in which tough-as-nails Alexis goes to confront casino owner Ethan about the fact that he has her sister living at his hotel. Once Ethan meets Alexis, he realizes she is more right for him than her sweet-natured sister. Alexis doesn't believe in vampires at first and thinks Ethan and his colleagues are all just playing a delusional sort of LARP. *laughs*
Alexis does learn the truth, and she falls as hard for Ethan as he has for her. It was an entertaining story with some drama and action, but I thought the author spent too much time following the subplots of other characters. I already own a few more books in the series, which I'll read eventually, but I don't think I'll purchase any others in the future. Again, cute, fun story, but just not gripping enough to spend money on additional books in the series.
