My understanding is, the 10th (and presumably last) book in the series ended with some resolution lacking. It's also my understanding that the author did write another book but lost her publisher(?). There was also some scuttlebutt that she'd suffered illness and/or injury at some point, which may have impacted things. It pains me to think that I'll read all these and then be left wondering. But, again, therein lies the fanfic.
