The Haunting Of Rory CampbellThe Haunting Of Rory Campbell by Katriena Knights

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Last night (early this morning!) I finished reading The Haunting of Rory Campbell by Katriena Knights. It's a paranormal romance, featuring main character, Rory Campbell, who is a professional ghost hunter. Her job is to put spirits at ease and help them move on.

Rory is hired to investigate the haunting at MacGregor House, where she encounters the ghost of the original owner, Lachlan MacGregor. Lachlan is thought to have murdered his wife, after which his wife's enraged lover murdered him. He has been cursed to remain as a ghost. As more of the story comes out, Rory becomes convinced that Christie MacGregor's death was an accident, and she also learns that it was Christie's mother, a witch, who cursed Lachlan. Poring over the witch's old journals, Rory discovers what she needs to do to help Lachlan cross over. Her ritual restores him to flesh and blood, but only for a short time. As Rory hones her skill, Lachlan is able to remain corporeal for longer periods of time. Rory knows she needs to help him move on but finds herself reluctant to let him go.

The story was good, if predictable. However, it's an excellent example of paranormal romance, if that's your thing. It no longer interests me as much as it used to, but I enjoyed reading this.

Favorite line: "It's sad how sometimes the person who feels the rightest for so many reasons turns out to be the wrongest for so many more."

Very good, four stars.
