I took the remainder of Monday afternoon and evening to read A Bun in Their Omega's Oven, by Lorelei M Hart. It's the first installment in the "Sweet Lovin'" series. It's a non-shifter mpreg story, featuring alphas Adam and Chris, and the omega they both love, Oliver. It was told in first-person pov, with the pov switching between the three characters. Normally I don't like that, but it worked in this book.

Alpha Adam hates rolling dough and making bagels, but since his father had a stroke, it's up to Adam and his younger sister to keep the family business going. He doesn't like having to get up early each and every day, and he finds himself resenting the owner of the donut shop two doors down from his bagel store. Chris seems to have everything going for him, and Adam can't stand it, never mind how hot Chris is.

Alpha Chris turned a TV baking gig into minor fame and fortune, and he now owns and operates a donut shop in Springfield. Despite how it looks from the outside, however, Chris is lonely. He'd love to settle down and start a family, or at least tumble Adam into bed. Too bad Adam won't give him the time of day.

Omega Oliver is making ends meet by delivering supplies to stores and bakeries. He's been warned about Chris and Adam's competitiveness, but he can't help but find both of them attractive. When a minor accident brings them all together, the three of them can no longer deny the heat between them. What starts out as a threesome one-off turns into much more. Now, not only do they have a pet chicken to take care of, but it seems Oliver has another surprise in store for his alphas.

This story was delightful. It was funny and fluffy and touching with a twee bit of angst thrown in. Obstacles seemed to be overcome with a distinct lack of drama, but sometimes a light and fluffy read is just the ticket. The narrative was filled with hilarious puns and lots of banter.

♦ I must've shot out some of my dignity when I blew my load. No, not dignity, brains. That was it, I orgasmed my brains out.
♦ ...there was no way to make it much more awkward than his making me wear my own cum to the chicken guy...
