Jinxed (Coven Corner #1)Jinxed by Charlotte French

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Between Wednesday night and last night, I read Jinxed by Charlotte French. It's the first installment in the "Coven Corner" series, which appears to feature different couples falling in love in each story.

Sky Sangrey lives in Wildemoor, a community comprised of witches, warlocks, and their human spouses. She is a witch of moderate talent, who runs a tea room and uses tea leaves and tarot to divine her customers' futures. When a new shop opens nearby, it is cause for much excitement. Not so much for its wares, but rather because the owner is a handsome, charismatic warlock. Sky tries to avoid Aiden Hall. She has a habit of getting clumsy and tongue-tied around attractive men. Sky's meddling mother has other ideas; she gives her daughter a gift certificate to Spellbound, obligating Sky to put in an appearance.

Disaster strikes, of course, when Sky knocks over a love potion and accidentally casts a love spell on Aiden. She flees before making a bigger fool of herself, but now she needs to figure out how to remove the spell before Aiden realizes what she's done. The only problem is, Sky isn't sure she wants to...

Light and fluffy story, very cute. I enjoyed meeting the people of Wildemoor, including those that I presume will be featured in upcoming stories. Sky was a fun character, in spite of her foibles. If I have any complaint, it's that the author describes her as somewhat plain and plump, yet the cover of the book depicts a svelte vixen. Certainly not the author's fault, though.

Favorite line: "Sometimes the truth is terrible."
Ain't that the truth?

Perfect for a short, lite read...4 stars.
