I completed the ebook Dog Days Murderous Nights last night. It's the first part of author Emily Page's "Winnona Peaks" mystery series. Main character was B&B owner Christy, or at least it seemed that way. Story was told in third person pov, and it followed several characters.
Christy is enjoying an influx of customers at her Bed & Breakfast, thanks to a local dog show. When one of the judges, JW Augustine, dies in his suite, Christy can't help but think he was murdered. The police have to wait for official cause of death, but Christy begins asking questions. She is aided in her endeavors by Greg Hinks, a retired cop who would like to get to know Christy better. They have three main suspects, all of whom JW had argued with recently. Will they get to the bottom of the mystery before the players leave town?
I am very meh about this story. The plot was not cohesive, characters were not fully dimensional, and there was no building up of clues to allow the reader to reach the same conclusion the mc did.
Favorite line: No matter how much money you have in life you can't have everything.
This wasn't even interesting enough for me to hate it. As I said, just very meh. Two stars.
