This wasn't much of a book, more of a novella, really, but eh, I'm counting it. Between last night and this evening, I read Omega on a Mission by NJ Lysk. It featured tenderhearted, domestic Gabriel and his alpha mate, Liam.
I can sum up Gabi in one name: Donna Reed...that is, if Donna Reed was male, gay, and a werewolf. Ha ha! Gabi loves his alpha mate, and there's nothing he likes more than taking care of Liam, be it cooking for him, caring for the household, and looking forward to starting a family together. For his part, Liam is equally devoted to Gabriel, and he shows it by indulging his whims, working hard to 'bring home the bacon', and treating Gabriel to lots of yummy sex.
Unfortunately, Gabi is used to being surrounded by pack, and now it's just him and Liam. He's not unhappy, per se, but he does get restless on occasion, wishing for more to occupy his time than just domestic upkeep and some college classes. When Gabriel happens to witness someone smuggling exotic animals, he finds something he can focus on. Without telling Liam, Gabriel begins to research the exotic animal trade, which compels him to do all he can to rescue the animals. Of course, that leads him into trouble, but no worries, Liam is there to rescue Gabriel.
This was a cute, uncomplicated story that was just right for an entertaining read.
Favorite line: I loved breakfast, but I hated waking up. It's like the eternal dilemma of my life...
I enjoyed this, but it was simply too short to give it more than an average rating.
