Oct. 12th, 2014 03:42 pmI just finished reading Hunting the Hunter by Shiloh Walker. It's an urban fantasy, featuring vampire and Hunter Kendall, and vampire hunter Kane.
After Kane's bounty hunter partner is killed, all Kane can remember of that night was the vision of a beautiful redhead at the scene. When he encounters her again, Kane is determined to kill the creature...until he discovers his partner is still alive and working with the Hunters. Intrigued now, Kane continues dogging Kendall as she hunts for an elusive rogue vampire who is killing innocent humans.
Kendall is exasperated by Kane's persistence, yet she admires him, too. The fact that he's so darned attractive is also annoying. As she and Kane close in on the rogue, they become intimately involved. Kendall perceives her growing feelings for Kane as a weakness, and he simply wants to be there for her, come what may.
The story was slow-building, which is why it took me forever to finish it, but once it got moving, I zoomed through it. The sex scenes were very hot, the secondary characters were interesting (and I can see where some will spin-off into their own stories), and the ending was emotional and satisfying.
