Book 20, 2013
Sep. 8th, 2013 03:01 amI was almost finished with my work book, and it was getting tense, so I didn't want to leave it until Monday. Therefore, I brought it home and finished it this evening.
The book was Daring the Moon by Sherrill Quinn. It's a paranormal romance, featuring reclusive author (and werewolf!) Ryder, and police investigator Taite. Taite has recently acquired a stalker, and she's been accosted by a werewolf, which she never would have believed, had she not seen it with her own eyes. She asks her friend Declan for help, and Declan takes her to Ryder's private island off the English coast.
Ryder doesn't want anyone to know his shameful secret, and he tries to get rid of Taite and Declan by being stand-offish and aloof. His inner wolf, however, recognizes Taite as his mate. The two of them gravitate to one another and become intimate, and Ryder knows he'll have to reveal his secret sooner or later. His hand is forced when Taite's stalker (who is also the other werewolf, natch) tracks her to the island.
The book was an easy read. Fast-paced and exciting, and the sex scenes were hot enough to qualify as erotica. One thing that bothered me about the story is that the made-werewolf seemed at least as strong as Ryder (a born werewolf), if not stronger. But, author's liberty, I guess. This is the first book in a trilogy. I have already read the second book, two or three years ago, but it didn't detract from this one at all. I am hopeful I have the third stashed away somewhere. If not, I'll definitely buy it!
