Book 23, 2014
Apr. 1st, 2014 06:47 pmI brought my work book home tonight, since I was so close to the end, and I've just finished it. The book was A Love Beyond Time by Judie Aitken. I used to love time-travel romances, and I devoured them...up until I discovered paranormal romances! I've had this book forever, and I finally unearthed it to read, since a co-worker of mine also likes time-travel stories.
The book featured archaeologist Ryan Burke traveling to the site of the Battle of the Little Big Horn. Some of her fellow archaeologists warn her of thefts from the site, and one of the old, local Native Americans asks her to help him set a trap for the thief. One night, while sleeping in an authentic tipi, Ryan is swept back in time, mere days before the actual battle was to take place. At the Lakota encampment, Ryan meets a warrior named Wolf, and the two of them fall in love. Ryan is also working to set a trap for the thief of her own time.
The historical details in the book were wonderful, and it was interesting to see events unfold through the eyes of a "modern" woman.
While the story itself was neither exceptional nor engrossing, I often found myself thinking about it when I wasn't reading the book. For that reason, I am compelled to give it five stars:
★★★★★
