chez_jaeI finished reading Another One Bites the Dust last night. It's the second installment in author Jennifer Rardin's series, featuring heroine Jaz Parks.
Jaz and her vampire boss Vayl are in Corpus Christi to retrieve the prototype of a new, biological armor that is virtually impenetrable. It was stolen by vampire Chien-Lung, and they'll have to kill him to get the armor back. Unfortunately, that will be almost impossible, since Lung never takes the armor off. In addition, Jaz has developed the ability to see reavers--demons who kill and eat the souls of their victims. Her new talent means she's a target of the reavers.
Working with Jaz and Vayl is a small team of specialists, including the man who created the armor, an ancient Seer, and a rookie agent looking to make his mark.
The story was fast paced, and the characters were engaging. I love Jaz's spunky attitude and sarcastic wit.
Favorite line: Fear is like a pig at the 4H fair. You can follow it around the ring with your little pig prodder, and most of the time it'll go where you tell it. But the sucker weighs over three hundred pounds, and if it decides it wants to jump the fence and run down the road, leaving a trail of green poop plops all the way back to the farm, by God it'll do just that.
