I settled in to read Leger's Curiosity last night. It was short enough that I finished it in one sitting. But hey, it had chapters; therefore, I'm counting it as a book read for the year. This is the second book in author Lacey Dearie's "Leger - Cat Sleuth" series. The story is in first-purrson pov from Leger, the titular black cat sleuth.
After witnessing the theft of several valuable tropical fish from a neighbor's aquarium, Leger is determined to bring the burglar to justice. To do so, he must rely on his feline friends as well as a little help from Joe, the obnoxious seagull. Leger must also learn to hop a ride on a bus to get where he needs to go to procure the clue that will lead the humans to the solution of the crime.
This was cute if a shade on the silly side. There was a subplot of Leger's pining for Winter, a tabby cat who broke his heart in the first installment. While I admired Leger's moxie in striving to solve the case, I wish it would have ended with a more clear resolution.
Favorite line: "I'd rather kiss a pigeon's backside, madam."
An amusing read, but not deserving of a score any higher than average.
