Eleven-eleven

I hate this day.  Friday the Thirteenth?  I laugh at it, but November Eleventh?  *shudders*

I'm what is known as an Elevener, meaning I see eleven-eleven all the time, whether it's on the clock, the calendar, in phone numbers, addresses, license plates...Heck, I even hear it all over.  Familiar with the song Konstantine?  "I always catch the clock/It's 11:11"  Yeah. 

The funny thing is, I go to great lengths to avoid seeing the clock at 11:11, so the number sneaks up on me in devious ways.  I wish I could have seen the look on my face one day at Walmart when my change was $11.11.  I once owed $11.11 on an Avon order, and I made the check out for $11.12.  Seriously.  I couldn't face it in my check register.   My icon is from an actual photo I took during an excursion with my mother.  *sighs*

I could go on and on, but I won't bore you with my blather.  Do any of you have an eleven-eleven story to share?

I always heard that if you catch the clock at a double digit (1:01, 1:11, 2:22, 2:02, 3:03, 3:33, 4:44, 5:55, 6:06, 7:07, 8:08, 9:09, 11:01, or 11:11) your supposed to make a wish. No garuntee it will come true though, because then it would make for an awful lot of wishes.

I wish it was as simple as making a wish, but I don't feel all happy and sunshiny when I see 1111.

I tend to only see it when I'm under stress. It tends to be a warning sign that things are building up: if I see 11:11 it means it's time to make a wish and slow down a little.

Nowhere near your experience with them, you have my sympathy.

I'm not seeing it as often as I used to, mostly because I'm finding some other number in doubles. I guess the other reason would be that I'm not really hunting for it, either, but there are times when it will sneak up on me when I least expect it.

I hope your day goes alright, though... maybe today's the day that 11 gives up and you begin seeing 3s and 7s in its spot. :)

You know, I posted that comment, and then it was everywhere. I caught it on my phone's clock, then I went to read this month's Cosmo and found a bunch of ads for Sirius Channel 111... and so on. I also found a huge rack of bras while I was at Wal-Mart for $11.00, but I'm trying not to count that one. :/
