Book 41, 2015
Last night, I finished reading another e-book, Good to Go, by Marg McAlister. It's the first installment in her "Georgie B Goode Gypsy Caravan" mystery series.
Cute, fun story! Our heroine, Georgie Goode, wants to take over the reins of the retro-RV division of her father's RV empire. Georgie's brother Jerry doesn't think she has the chops to be in sales, and their father sets them a goal: whoever can sell the most retro RVs before the big expo will be awarded the division.
Georgie decides to take her own retro RV on the road to drum up sales, but before she leaves, her great-grandmother Rosa gives Georgie her crystal ball. Rosa is a genuine, fortune-telling gypsy, and she is ready to give it up and let Georgie take over. Georgie, however, is convinced she has no talent for fortune telling. When a woman at the first campsite sees the crystal ball and asks for her fortune to be told, Georgie reluctantly agrees. She is surprised to discover she does have the Sight, and dismayed to learn that Kaylene may be in danger from a man named Brian.
Delightful story, all through it. Characters were well-developed, even the secondary ones. There are two plots going on: that of Georgie trying to out-sell her brother (while he undermines her efforts), and that of Georgie coming to terms with her gypsy heritage.
Extra points for the fact that the mystery didn't involve a murder. I often wonder why all mysteries seem to be murder mysteries. Why not a missing person case, or a case of stolen valuables? This was different, and I give it credit for that.
Fourstars diamonds!
